FLAME
RETARDANT, POLYESTER RESIN
DESCRIPTION:HETRON FR620T-20 resin is a
low viscosity, prepromoted, thixotropic, flame retardant polyester resin. Composites made
with HETRON FR620T-20 resin have been tested and achieved a. flame
spread of 5.25 (ASTM E-84) without a synergist such as antimony trioxide.
PERFORMANCE:
Excellent wet-out
Low drainage
Class I flame retardancy without
antimony.
Less than 35% styrene
SUGGESTED USES:HETRON FR620T-20 resin can be used
in hand lay-up, spray-up and filament winding flame retardant applications.
Markets include the transportation, electrical, mining and building
construction industries.
ALTERNATIVE
USES:HETRON FR640T-20 resin is
recommended when a synergist is used to achieve a Class I flame spread.
For corrosion requirements, call 1-800-327-8720 for specific recommendations.

'HETRON
polyester resin will burn if provided with a sufficient amount of heat and
oxygen. The degree of flame retardancy of the cured polyester resin composites
is characterized by the ASTM £-84 tumid test. This test if performed under
strictly controlled conditions where aflame spread rating is assigned according
to comparisons with test set-point materials. The behavior of the cured
composite under these controlled conditions can vary from an actual fire
situation.
Resistance to UV
radiation may be improved by adding up to 1.0% maximum CYASORB x6 UV-9
ultraviolet screener to the resin for the exterior exposed surface.
For all surfaces
that will be exposed to air during fabrication (top-coating patching, exterior
surfaces, etc.,) the addition of 0.4% paraffin wax to the final resin layer is
recommended. A waxed surface might affect secondary bonding and flame
retardance.

RECOMMENDED
STORAGE:
Drums - Stare at
temperatures below 80°F. Storage life
decreases with increasing storage temperature. Avoid exposure to heat sources
such as direct sunlight or steam pipes. Some thixotrope settling may occur with
prolonged storage. Mild agitation will
redisperse thixotrope. Keep containers sealed to prevent moisture pickup and
monomer loss. Rotate stock.
Bulk - Store in
stainless steel tanks lined with epoxy or phenolic coatings. Observe
precautions against heat and moisture (see above). An inert gas or nitrogen
blanket may be desirable.
SHELF LIFE: This product has a limited shelf life.
When stored in accordance with the above conditions, this product has a minimum
shelf life of three months.
